A Visit from UIN Raden Intan Lampung Strengthens Collaboration on Sustainable Campus Development
Depok, 13 May 2026 – UI GreenMetric welcomed an official visit from representatives of UIN Raden Intan Lampung at the UI GreenMetric Meeting Room, located on the 5th floor of the Science Techno Park Building, Universitas Indonesia. The visit served as an introduction to UI GreenMetric for the newly appointed officials at UIN Raden Intan Lampung, and included a strategic discussion session to strengthen institutional collaboration and exchange perspectives on sustainable campus development. The delegation from UIN Raden Intan Lampung was led by Bambang Budiwiranto, M.Ag., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Student Affairs, accompanied by Dr. H. Abdul Rahman, M.Pd., Head of the Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs; Fithrah Auliya Ansar, M.Hum., Head of the Center for Certification, Accreditation, and International Services; as well as Suci Wulan Pawhestri, M.Si., Chair of the Sustainable and Environmentally-Oriented Campus Development Team. They were directly received by the UI GreenMetric team, represented by Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Ph.D., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric; Rahmi, S.Hum., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development; Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si., Manager of Program, Partnerships & Communications; Rayhana, S.Gz., Partnerships & Program Coordinator; and Muhamad Ferdy Firmansyah, S.E., M.Sc., Program Partnership Officer.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange insights on sustainability initiatives in higher education, particularly in strengthening environmentally responsible campus governance and institutional development. Given UIN Raden Intan Lampung’s identity as an Islamic higher education institution, the discussion also reflected on the growing relevance of ecotheology in advancing sustainability within academia. During the session, UI GreenMetric introduced its sustainability ranking framework and highlighted how measurable sustainability practices can be aligned with ethical, spiritual, and educational values. This approach resonates with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs’ ecotheology initiative, which emphasizes that environmental preservation is not only a technical responsibility but also a moral and spiritual obligation rooted in faith.
As a sustainability ranking system initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, UI GreenMetric currently connects 1,745 universities across 105 countries through a shared commitment to sustainable campus transformation. Through its seven criterias, Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, Education and Research, and Governance and Digitalization, UI GreenMetric continues to provide universities with a practical roadmap for embedding sustainability into institutional policies and daily campus operations. In the context of Islamic higher education institutions, these sustainability efforts also align closely with the concept of ecotheology promoted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which frames humanity as a steward of the Earth entrusted with maintaining balance between humanity, nature, and spirituality.
The visit from UIN Raden Intan Lampung reflects the growing interest among Indonesian higher education institutions in strengthening sustainability-based governance while integrating spiritual and ethical dimensions into environmental action. The discussion highlighted how universities can play an important role not only as centers of education and research, but also as platforms for cultivating ecological awareness grounded in religious and humanitarian values. In line with the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ ecotheology framework, the collaboration further emphasized that caring for the environment is part of a broader collective responsibility to protect creation for future generations.
