UI GreenMetric Explores Strategic Collaboration with Katadata to Strengthen Sustainability Awareness
Jakarta, May 13th, 2026 – UI GreenMetric continues to expand its strategic partnerships in advancing sustainability awareness through a recent meeting with Katadata. The visit served as an important step toward establishing collaboration between both institutions in promoting environmental sustainability and strengthening public understanding of sustainable development issues through data-driven communication and media engagement.
Representing UI GreenMetric were Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Ph.D. (Chairperson); Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si. (Manager of Program, Partnerships & Communications); Riska Putri Hariyadi, S.I.P., M.Si. (Communications Coordinator); and Dr. Jauzak Hussaini W., S.Kom., M.T. (Data & Research Coordinator). The Katadata delegation was led by Muchamad Nafi (Executive Editor) and Jeany Hartriani (Deputy Head of Katadata Green).
Both parties explored various strategic opportunities during the meeting. First, it emphasizes Katadata Indonesia's potential to become an active collaborator in upcoming UI GreenMetric events. The meeting also opened dialogues regarding sponsorship opportunities and solidifying Katadata’s role as an official media partner. This synergy is expected to amplify the dissemination of sustainability commitments and achievements across the UI GreenMetric network on a wider, more impactful scale."
As an internationally recognized sustainability ranking system initiated by Universitas Indonesia, UI GreenMetric has consistently encouraged universities and institutions worldwide to implement measurable sustainability practices. Through its assessment framework, which covers areas such as infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, education, and governance, UI GreenMetric provides a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable development in higher education institutions.
Meanwhile, Katadata, particularly through Katadata Green, plays an important role in delivering strategic information and shaping public discourse surrounding sustainability, climate issues, and green development in Indonesia. The collaboration is expected to create a stronger synergy in communicating sustainability initiatives to wider audiences through data-based journalism, public campaigns, and educational content. Both parties expressed optimism that the partnership could contribute significantly to strengthening sustainability literacy and fostering greater environmental responsibility across society. By integrating sustainability data with accessible media narratives, UI GreenMetric and Katadata aim to help build a more informed and environmentally conscious community.
Through this initiative, UI GreenMetric reaffirms its commitment not only to measuring sustainability performance but also to ensuring that sustainability values are effectively communicated and understood by the public. As UI GreenMetric officially opens submissions for the 2026 Sustainable University Rankings, this strategic visit plays a vital role in socializing the program and inviting higher education institutions worldwide to register and participate in this year's assessment.
