GreenMetric & Land Policy

UI GreenMetric Meets with the Ministry of ATR/BPN to Synergize National Spatial Standards with Global Sustainability Benchmarks

On 12 March 2026, UI GreenMetric continues to broaden its strategic cross-sectoral collaborations to ensure that sustainability standards are integrated into national policy and land governance. Recognizing that land use is the foundational element of any sustainable ecosystem, UI GreenMetric has moved to align its global metrics with national spatial planning standards to empower both higher education institutions and local governments in their transition toward ecological resilience.

The delegation from UI GreenMetric conducted a strategic coordination meeting with the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN). The UI GreenMetric delegation was led by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A. (Chairperson), accompanied by Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A. (Vice Chairperson), Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si. (Program, Partnership, and Communications Manager), Muhamad Ferdy Firmansyah, S.E., M.Sc. (Program Partnership Officer), and Caroline Andrea Windah, S.Hum. (Executive Secretary Intern). The Ministry of ATR/BPN was represented by a technical team specializing in spatial planning and regional oversight, including Fuad Firmansyah, S.P., S.H., M.AP. (Head of Sub-directorate of Spatial Planning Supervision), Astuti Yudhiasari, S.T., MURP., Yosafat Ari Laksono, S.T., M.T., Virgeovani Hermawan, S.P., M.T., and Farda Suisa.

The meeting centered on the synergy between national spatial standards and the sustainability benchmarks established by UI GreenMetric. By integrating the Ministry’s expertise in land governance and spatial regulation, this collaboration serves as a vital bridge for both the Sustainable University and City Rankings. The discussion emphasized that true sustainability begins with optimized land management—ensuring that environmental integrity is embedded into the physical foundation of campuses and urban centers.

The Ministry of ATR/BPN plays a critical role in supervising how land is utilized across Indonesia to ensure it meets national development goals while maintaining environmental balance. This mission aligns closely with UI GreenMetric’s Setting and Infrastructure (SI) indicators, which evaluate how institutions manage their green spaces and built environments. By harmonizing these standards, UI GreenMetric can provide universities and municipalities with a more robust framework for spatial planning that is both legally compliant with national policy and competitive on a global scale.

Through this partnership, UI GreenMetric reaffirms its commitment to providing measurable impact and long-term ecological responsibility. By bridging the gap between national land policy and international sustainability goals, UI GreenMetric and the Ministry of ATR/BPN aim to provide the framework necessary for institutions and cities to lead with a clear, data-driven vision for a greener future.
