Gulf University Innovation: AI Platform “TrustCal” Sets New Standard for Measuring Trust

A new AI-powered platform developed at Gulf University is offering institutions a smarter way to understand how they’re perceived — not just online engagement metrics, but genuine trust.

In an achievement reflecting Gulf University’s commitment to supporting scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation, researcher Ammar Mohammed — a lecturer at the College of Communication and Media Technologies — has secured a copyright deposit from the Ministry of Information in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The copyright was awarded for his software project, “TrustCal AI: An AI-Powered Platform for Measuring and Calibrating Institutional Trust and Reputation.”

The TrustCal AI project is an intelligent software platform designed to analyze digital corporate communication, measure key trust and reputation indicators, monitor emerging risks, and deliver data-driven communication recommendations through an interactive analytical dashboard. The project serves to integrate artificial intelligence applications into the advancement of public relations and corporate media practices, supporting organizations in making more precise and proactive communication decisions.

The system proves highly valuable for institutions and universities, particularly within public relations and media sectors. It measures institutional trust and reputation in real time, analyzes both Arabic and English content, tracks potential risk indicators, and distinguishes genuine trust from conventional engagement metrics. Furthermore, it provides analytical insights that help communication and media departments understand audience trends and evaluate the impact of corporate messaging.

TrustCal AI sets itself apart from traditional monitoring tools by going beyond mere engagement or sentiment analysis. Instead, it generates a unified institutional trust index, evaluates communication quality, detects suspicious or AI-generated content, and offers explainable communication recommendations — making it a highly specialized solution for managing digital reputation and corporate communication.

The researcher, Ammar Mohammed, stated that this achievement marks a significant milestone in developing specialized Arab technical solutions for corporate communication. He noted that Gulf University’s support for applied research and innovation played a vital role in transforming this concept into a functional prototype ready for testing and development. He added that the project aims to serve academic, governmental, and private institutions by providing a smart tool that offers a deeper and more accurate assessment of the digital communication landscape.

This milestone aligns with Gulf University’s strategic direction to champion applied scientific research, encouraging its faculty and staff to develop innovative projects that serve both the community and the labor market. It also strengthens the university’s presence in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital media, and strategic communication.

The project is expected to be a qualitative addition to the public relations and media landscape, particularly within Arab and Gulf communication environments that require analytical tools attuned to local language, context, and digital culture.
